Ronaldo off to Real Madrid

The owners of Manchester United have reportedly accepted an offer for Ronaldo. Sounds like £80 from Real Madrid.

Hope he doesn't fall over and hurt himself on the way to the plane

£80 million is a lot of money, we can get 2 or 3 good players with that money and hopefully not miss him too much on the pitch.

Manutd.com also reporting it was was at his request, so its yet again for the 3rd/4th ? season in a row he has requested to leave.
I think the only difference this year is that Madrid have actually put down an offer 1st !

they'll have to get 10-15 goals each to replace him. Should make next season even closer.

He's not going to be easy to replace, but I suspect Fergie has been aware of this for a couple of months and will have something up his sleeve.

Even as a hardened United fan - you just can't knock £80 million for a player.

Great player, done a superb job for United but time to move on and pocket the cash. A joy to watch (also a pain in the backside at times when he has his strops on the pitch)

£134 Million in 4 days on 2 players by Real - Credit Crunch my arse!!!!!

When he's not rolling on the floor or letting the team down.
Great player when he tries but @ even £50mill you would be crazy to hold on to him.

re: Ronaldo off to Real Madrid

If/When it goes through United just got a whole lot weaker, that there is no doubt about. It is an excellent bit of business for everyone

Should make an interesting scramble for out of favour Real players, De la Red, Robben, Van der Vaart, Sneijder - they've just been replaced by 2 of the best players in the world..

Bad news for the Spanish tax payer who will probably have to fund this transfer. The Spanish government seem very good at giving money to Real.

Man U can now buy David Silva and David Villa from Valencia...that will compensate easily for losing Ronaldo.

re: Ronaldo off to Real Madrid

madness £80m for a player is nuts but hard to turn down - shame he is leaving because as much as he could turn a game when things weren't going his way he just disappeared and certainly Liverpool had worked out how to play him.

He has wanted out of MUFC for ages and I guess if a player doesn't want to stay you have to move him on - no one player can be bigger than the club, just look at Beckham!!

I do agree , but ironically in what may turn out to be his final appearance he was the only one who at least looked like he would at least try whereas everyone else was not in the game or just incredibly poor

Sky of course slow on the uptake http://www.skybet.com/skybet?action=...ff=4321&SS_Ron

If they wouldn't sell Mascherano or Alonso, why would they even consider it.

They say they wouldn't, when a cheque is thrown in the right direction with the right price Benitez might have to answer to someone else 1st before rejecting.

We are not quite there but close to being where Valencia are now - within a matter of weeks we will find out. We can talk the talk but if nothing changes we will be forced to sell. Money talks. If it was not for the fact that commercially Man Utd are huge then their own debt would be a burden, hence why they need only listen when £80 mill is plopped down

Reds accept £80m Ronaldo bidManchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

At Cristiano's request - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice.

We're absolutely no where near where Valencia are. Our holding company has a reported loss of £42million due to interest payments on a loan being paid, in exactly the same way the company that owns United (also via bank loans) have a reported £44million loss. It has absolutely nothing to do with a club being in debt. Valencia are in the red big time, they can't & don't pay their interest payments & they're making an enormous running loss each year. Liverpool FC made a running profit!

re: Ronaldo off to Real Madrid

well i'll be sorry to see him go, he provided the best moments (and ok, some of the worst moments) in our matches but i will give him some credit this time for not shouting to everyone who would listen about wanting to leave. I think had he done that Ferguson would have made him stay another year. I have a feeling that the discussion he and Fergie had at the end of the last season went along the lines of 'keep your nose down, work hard, stop saying you want to leave, and at the end of next season i'll let you go'

there are a lot of players around that we could buy now, Silva, Villa, Huntelaar, Ribery etc but i don't know who Fergie is interested in. Part of me thinks he should let the youngsters like Nani, Gibson, Rafael etc become first team regulars, and perhaps he will, but i'm sure he'll be in the market for a couple of big names (to sell shirts if nothing else)

If we don't sign Tevez now, the guy will have the right to be extremely annoyed!

re: Ronaldo off to Real Madrid

I think Fergie will blow about half of it on someone, hopefully not Ribery. Not sure if Tevez will stay now anyway. I don't think Nani is anywhere near the class Ronaldo is/was & so don't expect him to be anything more than a bit part player myself.
