Tannoy Eyris 'R's ?

Hi there,

is anyone using Tannoy Eyris Rs? I have Eyrises across the front, but I'm just using Mission 77Ds for my rear speakers.

Though this setup is good at the moment (the Eyrises sound fantastic) I wonder if anyone has got or has heard a setup with Eyris Rs at the back. I haven't found a nearby shop to have a listen.

The difference would have to be worth the £350+ or so it would cost to upgrade, and even though upgrading my fronts was worth every penny, I doubt upgrading the rears is so vital.

I reckon that you would notice a big improvement if you went for the R's only if SACD/DVD Audio or you listen to lots of music via PLII.

The R's appear on the Tannoy website to be direct radiating rather than dipole like the Missions, so will work well with music. (Am I correct?) For films, the dipole Missions may be better at spreading out the rear soundstage - personal preferance applies here. The R's look lovely tho'.

I was figuring that at £100 worth of improvement right there.

But I think I'll spend the cash I don't have on something else instead
