What Should I get to go with my Current Naim System.

I'm considering upgrading my speaker package. My room is about 18ft by 16ft.

My decision is driven by my stereo requirements rather than surround, but I do want a very good centre to go with a very good front pair. As the rears are less important I would like to get stand mounted good quality speakers but want to keep the cost to c£750. To make a change worth while I was thinking of spending c£3000 to £4000 on the front pair. I don't really want a massive, physically imposing centre.

Ideas to audition welcome.

Re: What Should I get to go with my Current Naim System.

I have slightly lower class Naim electronics but my Dynaudio Focus 110 work brilliantly with them, they're slightly over £750 but there are a rosenut pair on eBay at the moment.

If you want more bass, then the Audience 52SE drop a bit lower with a slight mid sacrifice.

As for the centre i use an Audience 42C which whilst not a perfect sonic match (and bettered by the 122C and the Focus 200C) is a great centre with nice punchy dialogue.

Not sure where you're based but you're welcome to a demo if you wish.

Re: What Should I get to go with my Current Naim System.

I'm not sure spending £4000 on a pair of speakers running off a Supernait would be that wise.

Have you considered spending elsewhere? Flatcap or HiCaps for the CD5x and Snait? CDX2?

I glossed over that point, but do agree....

SuperCap
CDX2
XPS

And keep the Focus 110..... should more than kill the £4k budget

Re: What Should I get to go with my Current Naim System.

My current stereo speakers cost about £1400 and my centre was about £600 ish (I think) with the rears about £600 ish too. don't shoot me if I'm a bit out.

Your point about updating the Naim with a power amp and power supplies is well taken and is something I will probably do. After which I will obviously have to upgrade my speakers

What I would like to do is get the speakers first, as then I would know where I stand with regard to the size of the front speaker and what I have to do to make it all look nice again for my wife!! Things like put the plasma (I NEED a 50 inch Pioneer - obviously ) on the wall, buy a new rack etc.....

It may be that what I have already is good enough and that I don't need to upgrade further but I would like to listen to some speakers in the range I mention - to see if it is worth further investment. I have gone as far as I want to with regard to the CD and Amp (apart from the upgrades to my current equipment) from a stereo point of view.

Long term, I would like to get a processor and power amps for the front and rears - if it improves things.
