Kef TDM rears, what would you replace with

I have had a set of TDM rears for 7 years and nothing has come close to these (IMHO)

I am currently undertaking a bit more of a stealthy install, in wall in ceiling speakers. The only bit of kit that's a conventional black box are my rear speakers. I have just bought a pair of def tech UIW for my 7.1 rear speakers, they don't come any way near the Kef's in any shape or form, they will suffice as the rear surrounds.

So my question is; does anyone know of an inwall / ceiling speaker that will get anywhere near the Kef's sound quality?

I don't really want to get rid of the TDM's but sometimes sacrifices need to me made, the only way I am going to wave bye bye to my speakers is if someone on here has good advice on a good inwall / ceiling replacement.

Hope someone can help

Re: Kef TDM rears, what would you replace with

I think the lack of responses says it all really.

I've had the full KEF TDM speaker package for about the same time.

I tried to replace them for aesthetic reasons a while back, but it didn't last long... I missed them too much and they went back up.

However, mine really will be coming down soon for the last time, and the thought of it pains me like you wouldn't believe.

Well I have just purchased a pair of Sonance THX inwall surrounds, the Kef's are going up for sale.

I'll post my findngs on the Sonance.

I guess sometimes a compromise has to be made

Didn't you look at any of the Kef in wall/ceiling speakers.
I nearly went down this route a few years ago but I changed my mind because I always seem to be tweaking the positioning of mine and didn't want to lose that flexibility.

Re: Kef TDM rears, what would you replace with

Yes I did look at the Kef inwalls, I replaced my fronts with 2 Ci 1500 LR and a CI 2000 C.

Kef don't make a dipole surround that can be driven like the rest of my kit. Their inwall dipole is rated at 60watts.

The front Ci's are built to reference standards, so the produce quite a good front soundstage, I'm happy with it anyway
