Subwoofer to Amp help

Hello guys,

I'm in need of some help. I have a passive subwoofer (wire only no rca terminators) and my new AMP (Pionner 1015) only has one sub output, not only is it RCA but i believe it only works with a "powered subwoofer".

How can i connect the sub to the amp?

Hi,
You'll need to use a seperate power amp,
Then just connect the Sub-out RCA to the power amp and then speaker connections from the Power amp to the Sub.

This can be easy and cheap (i.e Free) if you happen to have an old amp lying about.

However if you don't then you'll either have to look out for a cheap amp to buy, or consider getting a powered sub.
(of course which of these choices you make depends on how good a sub it is).
I hope this helps,

Paul.

As Paul says it depends on how much you value the subwoofer whether it is worth trying something like a BK plate amp.

These plate amps are remarkable value but if the passive sub really doesn't add up to much it would be far better to save up and and get a real active sub.

BK also do complete active subs which have a good reputation for their perfomance for the price.

The thing is that the Sub is part of a 5.1 Pioneer Spekaer system and i'm gonna get some new Speakers.

The old ones that have this sub are going to be sold nevertheless the person that buys then must be able to connect all speakers, must of the amps that i see around have an rca connection.

What would be a cheap amp only for the sub?

What would be a cheap amp that allows connecting all wire speakers including sub, it really is going to be a budget system guys.
