Videologic ZXR-750

Videologic ZXR-750

As a poor student who is not going to start employment until Sept 2005! Would these speakers suffice in providing basic 5.1 for the next 12 months?

My aspirations are far higher, but I've got to live within my means!

Has anyone experienced these speakers? They seem to get fairly decent reviews (for the money ).

Any thoughts would be great .

Many thanks,

Mark.

Considering their price, they're pretty good.

I have a ZXR-550 system connected to my PC, and in a small room, they're great. I can happily play games in full suround sound, or pop in a CD and listen to it while working. DVD's sound OK too, although I've only ever tried it out of curiosity. (Not a patch on my Keg Eggs though!)

They are quite powerful for their size - I have the volume dial turned down low, but they still seem to produce a lot of sound. I haven't really cranked them up, so can't tell you what they do at high volumes (I'll try next time I've got an empty house).

One thing to watch if you want to connect them to a DVD player is that they only have analog connections, so you would need a DVD player with 6 analog outs. There's no optical or coaxial input.

[Edit: Just checked the spec of your DVD-S75, and see it does have 6 analog outs, so no worries there]

Balders.

Confused!

Thanks Balders, but I'm now getting all confused!

I emailed PURE Technical Support and asked if my player was compatible with the ZXR-750 speakers, their reply -

'Mark,

The DVD player you have is not compatible with the 750 as it does not provide decoded Audio output in the form of six phono

connectors.

Other speaker stands can be use so long as they are provided with universal adapters for small satellite speakers.

David'

So I asked if their was any way around this and the response from a different support person was -

'You will need to purchase a separate digital decoder.'

From my limited knowledge, I can not see a problem connecting the S75 to the ZXR-750.

Here is a picture of the ZXR-750 connections -

Here is a picture of the rear of the S75 -

What do you think?

Thanks,

Mark

That dvd player looks to have a built in DD decoder, otherwise I can't see the point of having them 5.1 connections on the back

It does have both DD and DTS decoders built in.

I think that connecting the ZXR-750 to the S75 should work fine.......

Hi,

There have been some recommendations to go for a cheap 5.1 set from Argos in another thread (see here)

I was just wondering what my best bet would be. I do not expect much for the money I am spending, but if one was to sound better than the other, then every bit helps!

These are my choices -

Videologic ZXR-750

Acoustic Solutions DS533

Acoustic Solutions DS833

Acoustic Solutions DS633

AS222 - 5.1 Home Theatre Speaker Package

LG FA-P3000

The LG is £150, where as all the rest are sub £100!

I would really appreciate any input from the forum members. I know this is probably a lot less exciting compared to some of the kit you guys get to listen to, but I can not afford anything else just now .

Thanks,

Mark.

I have also found these for around £150 -

Panasonic SBTP20

They would match the player!

Any thoughts?

No replies......

Does anyone have any thoughts........ ?

I noticed MurphmanL has a thread titled 'Acoustic Solutions' who seems to be in the same predicament as myself. Suggestions there are that for this sort of cash it may be best to look for clearance items and end of line products?

Should this be where I head instead?

Cheers,

Mark.
