Tannoy vs. Monitor Audio

I have narrowed my search for some bookshelf speakers down to the Tannoy MX2 and Monitor Audio B2's.

My choice of SUB is still being made, but I will probably settle for either a MS 309, xls 200 or mj pro 50.

My amp is a Yam 440.

I need your informed opinions.

I am also not having any luck finding the mx2's in any other finnish but dark oak. Anyone know where to find others?

Will a Tannoy Mx C as a centre speaker be suitable for my choice?

I live in a small Welsh town so demo's are not an option.

Monitor audios are a much better speaker IMHO and in that case best centre would be the Bronze centre!

If you choose the Tannoy Mx2 as fronts then also take the matching center (MxC).

Can't comment on the MA Bronze and how they compare to each other but I used to have the Mercury series (forerunner of the MX) and was quite pleased with them.
However they could not cope with my amp's power (Yamaha DSP-A1) so later I upgraded to the now discontinued Monitor Audio PCM series which I still own and love.

I love the both companies' products. Some of Tannoy's high-end stuff is breathtaking. MA's budget stuff looks a better design-wise though!

Thanks R & DT

I have been searching my mouse into exhaustion to find a pair of Tannoys in any other colour than dark oak. No luck yet.

I do fancy the MA's though, but with the centre and a Sub I am stretching it a little.

Any online shop that you can recommend?

I believe the MX-M range are going discontinued, replaced by the new Fusion range. Not seen any reviews on the Fusions yet.

I'm very happy with my MX-M setup which I've had for 4 months. I ordered from www.hifistore.co.uk.
