Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV Package

Afternoon,

Currently in the Process of Moving home and i'm wanting to upgarde my Speaker system and currently looking at the Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV package.

The Question i have is can the RS FX speakers be mounted on stands instead of the on the Wall as i'm unable to mount them on a wall.

Cheers

Re: Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV Package

I think they would be unstable on a stand, as there isn't much depth to them. Couple this with the height and they would be knocked or wobbled quite easily.

Re: Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV Package

I've had mine for a couple of years or so now, and i still love 'em.

I'm on the upgrade path probably next year. During that upgrade, i'll replace my amp, disc player, screen and projector.

The speakers are staying

You're not too far from me - if your struggling for a demo, you could always have a listen to mine if you want

Yeah that would be good if you did not mind as my nearest retailer has not got any that have been run in so i would not hear the speaker at its best

Re: Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV Package

Would you use them mostly for music or movies, or a mixture of both ?

Re: Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV Package

I would use them for both and playing games on ps3 but i listen to music more than movies. I'am using the bronze package (BR2 and BR1 and BR-LCR)

Re: Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV Package

OK, i dont know how much of a purist you are, but i dont have a dedicated CD Player.
CD's for me are played on my DVD Player.

I dont think they would sound too bad for playing games either

Re: Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV Package

I've heard that they are yes.

I can't comment on it myself as i havn't heard the Bronze range.

If you do a search on this forum you'll probably pick up some info.

Not great on stands and they will be unstable and won't look right. You may be better going for the RS1's as rears instead.

Re: Monitor Audio Silver RS1 AV Package

Pah! Ive had my setup for a good few years now (see sig) and have my rears on a pair of Atacama stands. The speakers dont have much depth to them, however with a few blobs of blu-tac they have never moved once, and short of a high speed Jet Lee flying kick, I dont expect them to. Depending on the stands, it may be worth filling them with dry sand just to give them a bit more mass.

Pics can be taken if you want them.

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean

What has been pointed out is something to be aware of and what may happen, as the speakers mentioned are specifically designed to be wall mounted, and not stand mounted.

If you have done otherwise and are quite happy with what you have done, then that's fair enough.

I've got mine mounted on corner shelves, sound great and widen the surround experience effectively.

Cheers,
Neil.

That would be great if you could take some pics.

Quantum - If i changed the Rears to RS1's how much of a differnce would it be to having the RS FX Speakers as the rears
