Questions and Answers

'Whats the difference between the CD102 and the Movie150QX?'
The CD102 sats have 3" aluminium drive units and a 15mm tweeter. The casings are made from a beautiful aluminium extrusion in a brushed satin finish with thick metal endcaps. The power handling is 100 Watts and they measure 4ohms. The centre has 2 drive units and a tweeter. All the wall brackets come with the system for all 5 speakers. The Subwoofer is active and is rated at 100 watts. Use the 'R/Mono' input marked in Red as the subwoofer input from the av amp. The CD102 uses the MkII version of the CD10's. The subwoofer has a grill to cover the front port.
The Movie150QX has 4" drive units and a 15mm tweeter. The casings to the sats are made from moulded plastic. The power handling is 120 watts and they measure 4ohms. The centre has 2 drive units and a tweeter. All the wall brackets come with the system for all 5 speakers. The Subwoofer is active and is rated at 120 watts. Use the 'R/Mono' input marked in Red as the subwoofer input from the av amp. The subwoofer port is open.
Both subwoofers have volume & crossover controls and 'auto mode'
The CD102 is smaller and prettier than the Movie150QX and it offers the best saving. The Movie 150QX is slightly bigger and it sounds a tad better due to the larger drive units. Both systems are available in Silver or Black.

'Which input do i plug the subwoofer lead into?'
There are a range of inputs on the back of a Canton sub. for all aV requirements, you need the Red 'Low level' input marked up as 'R/Mono'. The Left low level input is not required unless using the L&R preouts on an amp.
There are also high level inputs (speaker level) which can be used for stereo applications.
Both high and low level inputs can be fed into the sub at anyone time. if the sub detects 2 signals, it will defer to the low level input.

What is the difference between the Movie 60CX and the Movie 80CX?
60CX and 80CX are effectively the same product, but with a few differences. The main difference is that the 80CX's satellites are finished in a gorgeous gloss black or silver, where as the 60CX are finished in the standard matt black or silver. the other smaller differences are the wall mounting system for the 80CX centre speaker is superior and the speaker terminals are better as well for all the sats.

Yes, I and a few others are interested in the 2.2 set up, i.e. 2 x CD100's, CD50, 2 x CD10s and the sub, AS 22 SC.

That lot with free delivery comes to £499. From Tenspot.de , when you add on UPS and COD, the total comes to £500.

Fantastic Jake. Well done - I don't know how you managed it.

Hi

Firstly, the terminology

AS - means 'active sub'

D - means down firer

the first 2 numbers refer to the sub itself i.e. 15, 20, 22, 25, 40, 50
With regards to the numbers above, the larger the number the larger the sub

the third number (if there is one) i.e. 220, 250 has been added to show that a sub e.g. an ASD220SC is in simple terms a an AS22SC on its face, now acting as a down firer. In real terms it is more complicated, because the parameters for a forward facing drive unit are different to a down firer. Therefore the crossovers have different charcteristics to suit either appplication. But the drive units, ports are the same and cabinet sizes are similar.

SC - this refers to cantons in-house 'SC' technology. It is part of the crossover network that extends the speakers transmission range by an octave and more downwards. i.e. the bass is deeper

AS 15,20,22,25 are available in black, silver or beech / silver
AS40, 50 are available in black and beech / silver
ASD 220,250 are available in silver, beech / silver and cherry / graphite

The Ergo & Karat range of speakers have there own ranges of subs and are made from real wood veneers,

Ergo AS1.2SC & AS2SC are both forward firing and have a nom./musical output of 140/200W & 250/350W using 8" & 11" drive units

Karat is more complicated it has 3 subs, AS200SC, AS300SC & AS500SC

AS200SC is 140/200W & 8" and is a down firer. It comes with its own plinth that it sits on (as with all the Karat range, the plinth is spiked to the floor and the sub has rubber spikes onto the plinth) Utilizing the plinth means that the sound produced is cleaner and more precise. (most down firing subs lose most of there energy banging sound into the carpet/ floor or even losing definition because the sound has been pumped straight into the floor cavity!

AS300SC and AS500SC are 250/350W & 400/600W both with 2 x 11". They utilize a Bass reflex system with passive membrane. this is known as an infinite baffle and gives amazing power, control, and warmth but has the ability to scare the pants off you at the right moments. both sit on there own plinths

Karat & Ergo range are available in real wood veneers in Black, cherry, beech & silver

finished typing

i'm very sorry if this was boring or to long for some people but I thought if I get it written down at the begining then I won't have to do it again !

as always, if anyone has a question, please let me know.

regards

JJ
