SPDIF Optical Asus P5E-VM

Hello

I have a Asus P5E-VM motherboard, which has onboard HD sound card, its a Realtek sound card.

I have the Asus optical module installed.

So I have the optical cable from the PC to my Sony DAV-S550 Amp which has 5.1 surround sound.

When I test the sony dav, all speakers test ok, when I run the asus software in the control panel of XP, I can only get sound from the front speakers, I have rad the manual and cannot see how to get the rear speakers to work !

Anyone have any ideas?

Regards

Re: SPDIF Optical Asus P5E-VM

Anyone got one of these optical SPDIF connectors, or know where I can get one? I'm going to free up a PCI slot by taking out my sound card and using the onboard one, but the motherboard didn't come with the connector.

Re: SPDIF Optical Asus P5E-VM

What Player are you using? have you set it to use more than 2 speakers? In power dvd you have a pull down menu in options with upt o 8 Speakers and Spdif pass through if your receiver decodes. DD, DTS, Etc.
