Question HDMI onboard sound

My motherboard blew up and I replaced it with the xfx nforce 630i/7100 GeForce. It comes with HDMI audio. I don't use the surround sounds as I use my computer for gaming. I wear a headset with microphone so I can hear and chat without disturbing the other members of my house. The headset has an USB adapter or can use the standard pins for speakers and mic. How do I go about configuring my computer so that I may use my headset and get around the HDMI capabilities. I want to utilize the sound capabilities that are onboard but not with the HDMI ports.

Re: HDMI onboard sound

Not sure what your problem is? The headset just plugs in the pink and green jack sockets on the rear?
Are they not there?

Re: HDMI onboard sound

i thought that headphones with usb ports as a rule have their own "soundcard" on the usb dongle and so wouldnt use the onboard sound at all...
