No sound from HDMI to DVI cable with ps3.
I have my ps3 going into my computer monitor through a HDMI to DVI cable.
What sort of cables do I need to attach speakers to my ps3?
Thanks

you may be better off asking in one of the PS3 forums.

Re: No sound from HDMI to DVI cable with ps3.
I though there might be better advice here..seeing as this as an AV forum.
I bought some good logitech speakers for my computer not so long ago. Does anyone know a way of connecting a PS3 to a standard speaker jack?

Re: No sound from HDMI to DVI cable with ps3.
You will need an optical digital lead as DVI is video only and will not carry audio.
Not sure if the multi AV out has standard phono's for stereo as I have mine connected via HDMI>HDMI and I dont think you can have HDMI output AND multi AV at the same time (HDMI for video and the stereo phonos on the multi AV for audio) if you see what I mean.
Graham.

Re: No sound from HDMI to DVI cable with ps3.
If i get a 3.5 stereo male to 2 female RCA lead
can I plug the white and the red RCA from the PS3 into my sound card... which will let me hear sounds from my PS3 and my computer?
Or am i talking rubbish?

Re: No sound from HDMI to DVI cable with ps3.
Yeah, thats the sort of thing you need. But like I said, I'm not sure you can use the HDMI and AV multi outputs at the same time which is what you'll need to do. I would have a go and experiment myself for you but firstly I dont have one of them leads, and secondly, it is a pain to drag my AV stand out and wire the PS3 up in this way.
Sorry,
Graham.

I would guess that you need to plug it in the mic socket.

Check that the mic isn't muted in the volume options also you may need mic 2 enabled but I think that is driver soundcard option dependent, anyway in the controlpanel/sound and audio devices make sure there's a tick in the microphone select box then select advance and make sure there is a tick in the microphone boost +20db box

Re: No sound from HDMI to DVI cable with ps3.
one problem...
the sound quality is really bad in places
the sound distorts bass and drum sounds, is there a way to fix this?
I have the pc's sound at 100 and the ps3's sound at 20 (as they sound equal volume like this)
im also pretty sure that either the left or right audio isnt playing at all...how do i configure this?
