Soundcard Help please

Hi, i'm looking to buy a new soundcard.
I have a Sony STR-KS1100 AV reciever, and i'd like this card to enable me to hear all my mp3's and FLAC's in 5.1 surround.
I'm on a budget of £60 and i believe, correct me if i'm wrong, this card must have an optical out or HDMI.
The card i have currently is a soundblaster X-Fi [CCA0]. maybe this can be worked around so i don't need a new card at all, basically i just want sound through all 5 speakers + sub

Thanks for all help, appreciated

Re: Soundcard Help please

Cheers on the welcome, i believe i'm in the right place to get this sorted Now... How would i find out which x-fi i have? sorry
Don't thing i've ever updated the drivers either

Anyway i've been doing some digging and have a few points i'd like to raise; would this work - Creative Labs Online Store (UK) | Buy Creative Sound Blaster® - Accessories | Digital I/O Module

Would coaxial audio cable do the trick?

failing all else should i just get this - Asus Xonar D2 PCI Hi-End 7.1 Soundcard: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Cheers

Re: Soundcard Help please

that Module is fine but with Certain cards , can you take card out and post Serial number (link below).. or go the site and update drivers , they have autoupdate (go to support) . and this shows your serial number also ..

Creative Worldwide Support

also the Asus is a good card .. one question do you want EAX or not? or just Digital out?

Re: Soundcard Help please

I cracked open my pc, what a bag of horrors! the amount of dust in there was incredible, after a good clean i got to the model number and thats - SB0460 X-Fi XtremeMusic

I'm downloading the most recent drivers now, cheers for that. Do let me know what can be done with it wont you, i'll be a very happy man if i don't have to go out and get a new card.

oh, since i dont know what EAX is i think i'll live without it, for now at least just the 5.1 and i'm happy

Re: Soundcard Help please

Dust is not good mate or Horrors not good for system in general ,
Good to here your sorting drivers though

The above link you posted i.e Creative Labs Online Store (UK) | Buy Creative Sound Blaster® - Accessories | Digital I/O Module

works with your SB0460 X-Fi XtremeMusic (see list)

Eax is for games Hardware surround modes , your card supports this , see link ..

Creative Sound Blaster Sound Card Technology - X-Fi, EAX and OpenAL .
