My DF has a Sony Ericsson w200i mobile which is locked to Orange, however we want to unlock it to use on another provider.

I've spent some time now looking at sites about unlocking and how to do it for free, but to be honest, i've seen so much conflicting data from people I don't know/trust I am loathed to do anything.

Has anyone here managed to unlock their phone without bricking it? If so, what advice do you have for doing it for free?
I feel I am confident to do it, just prefer not to have contradicting information from sites in russian and links to "dodgy unlock sites etc."

Otherwise the only option is to goto the local shop and pay, but obviously i'd prefer not to.

It lists in the service section as a r4gb001 if that helps, but not sure how to identify if it's a CID 52 or 53

get setool lite use your usb cable to identify which cid it is and go from there.
