Unlocking K850i

Hi

I know very little about mobile phones and have just been given a Sony Ericsson K850i, which has now completed its contract with Virgin.

My old mobile/sim is with the Tesco network and I would like to use this sim with the Sony Ericsson, but it obviously won't work.

Is there a way of unlocking this phone at home, or do I need to take it to a shop, to be unlocked?

I would appreciate any advice

Have a read through the Help and Support sections first if you're unsure. It's a pretty straightforward process though and you can always contact their support for advice.

There are other options, but I've always trusted DaVinciTeam and they have never let me down. They also offer excellent support, which is good if you're not confident.

Noticed that I need to purchase a cable. Is there any other way by using codes etc?

If not, it might be just as cheap to find someone to do it for me?

Did you not get one with the phone? I'm sure it's a part of the standard package, or at least it was when I had two of them in the past.

Noticed on the link you sent me, that it said: (No available patches for this model!). Does that effect me unlocking it, or are they referring to something else?

That's referring to something else, it's the unlocking option you need. Thinking back though, I think they have an unlock by code option that might be applicable here... might be worth a search.
