Cool Sony XPERIA with Android???

I can't wait, if this turns out to be true.

Sony Ericsson ”Rachael” is the codename of the Swedes' first Android-based mobile phone, that is expected to be announced later this year. It will be part of Sony Ericsson's series of XPERIA products. We've got our hands on internal documents about the phone, that seems to have the potential to be a sales success.

The phone is based on the Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon platform, that enables processor speeds up to 1 GHz, and HSPA-speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. This platform will also sport great 3D graphics capabilities.

The phone's built-in camera is an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus. There's also a 3.5 mm jack connector as well as a mini-USB connector at the top of the phone. The touch screen appears to be rather large, and according to our sources its diagonal measures no less than 4 inches. As of now, we have no word on the screen resolution, but it'll probably end up at 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA) or so.

Re: Sony XPERIA with Android???

UI tweaks and customisation look very good.

All we need now is for somebody else other than SE to make the hardware and we could have a very good handset on our hands!

Any more news on this? It's been removed from the Expansys website. Need to decide whether to wait for this or just for for the HTC Hero.

Is Rachael or the X3 coming in November

Quote:
Sony Ericsson is expected to announce the "Rachael" handset on the 3 November.
Although the company has yet to officially confirm the news, it has started a teaser campaign for the handset on its website.

Pocket.lint

If the handset is durable, i may stick with S.E for a little longer....

Re: Sony XPERIA with Android???

This SE device is looking really cool, I had my hands on one a few weeks ago through my job and I was really impressed with the device. The screen size is the same size as the whole of the HTC Hero! It's got a hugely powerful battery in it too so hopefully the battery life is up to scratch compared to other Android device currently on the market!
I think it due to launch around the start of February

Re: Sony XPERIA with Android???

Release date isn't more specific than Q1 2010. Disappointed that the screen isn't OLED, and there is no multi-touch (this is android 1.6 - I think multi-touch is only included in 2.0, and its up to the oem to implement it, such as Motorola have done with the Milestone aka Droid). Everything else though seems fine.

well, according to Pocket lint...

Quote:
The X10 represents that move, including both an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 3.5mm headphone jack (very welcome on a Sony Ericsson handset) with a tonne of multimedia software - something that is a weakness of the default Android build.

The handset packs a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and has a big 4-inch capacitive FWVGA TFT touchscreen. It has an 8-megapixel camera, with LED flash, and comes with an 8GB microSD card in the box. It has HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth, and connects to computer via micro- (not mini-) USB on the top.
Sounds and looks good. Q1 is spot on for my contract renewal, so i could be sticking with SE. Plus i now use a 16 micro sd card which i will hopefully transfering across!

Edit: Images galore too

Re: Sony XPERIA with Android???

I really believe this wil be a flop. It's being marketed as a phone for women and is released on valentines day. Also, who is going to wait to february? It also only has Android 1.6 on it. Sorry Sony but you should have gotten this in the shops for Christmas with Android 2.0 on it.

I'd be highly surprised if SE stick with version 1.6.
I'm hoping O2 are on of the carriers, but so far Vodafone and T-mobile seem to the be biggest UK backers of android handsets

I'm currently torn between the X10 and the HTC Bravo for which new phone to go for (can I wait until April for the latter to be released?).

18th Jan 2010 seems to be what Play are suggesting.

I'm waiting on T-Mobile.
