Hi,

I stupidly managed to get my k800i to the bottom of the sea while on holiday recently.

The battery expanded like a balloon and the phone was a goner.

So after 10 days I returned home an put a new battery in it and it works! (sortov)

Basically it will turn on, screen is fine and keypad lights up, however none of the buttons work and therefore I can only get as far as the flight mode selection screen.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this or what specific part I would require to fix the phone.

My dad has a k800i so I can easily use parts from his to check quickly.

i wouldnt even attempt it.

the salt water is invariably eating away at the circuitry and ithiink that a replacement keypad will be as much as replacing the entire phone...

Salt isn't just a killer to our hearts, you are right.

I have heard of people putting a phone or mp3 player in a bowl of clean water to rinse the salt, sugar or whatever they plopped their gear in, letting it dry out and successfully rekindling life into the old dog. A week in salt might be pushing it though.

I wouldn't try it unless it's a last resort hough as it is a VERY hit and miss affair!

Replaced my keypad on the K810i for £3.99! I even ordered a spare one.
