Sony Ericsson Satio

Looking good for Sony Ericsson. I like the look of the new "Aino". Hopefully they stick to the timetable and release in October (or earlier would be nice!) as planned.

re: Sony Ericsson Satio

I personally have not ever had/used an iphone so couldn't tell you. From the new Sony Ericsson line-up, I would have thought Satio would be the closet to an iphone?

re: Sony Ericsson Satio

These look great and have a bundle of tempting features (tv out being one plus a PS3 link up)

BUT

a lack of 3.5mm jack is a let down. (own earplugs + car aux input) It would have to work really well to tempt me away from the X1 (or X2 by the time its released).

I'm hoping this phone lives up to the hype after a disappointing couple of years for SE. According to this report we haven't got long to wait to find out...

re: Sony Ericsson Satio

The Satio can't come soon enough as far as I am concerned. I've held off upgrading my contract since Feb waiting for it! I'm sure I've read some stuff somewhere saying that "the networks" will have the phone end September/early October - Vodafone are advertising it on their website.....

re: Sony Ericsson Satio

Tell me about it, my contract ran out last October but none of the upgrades i was offered really seemed worthwhile so I just went onto a cheaper rolling contract. The only handset that has since really caught my eye is the Satio so it had better be worth the wait!

Some rather lengthy hands-on footage of Satio and Aino here:

I'm having pretty much the same problems, when Satio (then Idou) was announced I thought I'd seen my next phone. Then what happens details of Rachael appear which I think with Android will have a much better touch UI??

The Satio' a much more expensive handset than the 5800 so would expect the contract deals to be on par with the Nokia N97, at a guess.

That Rachael / Xperia X3 does sound quite tasty too but not sure I can wait much longer as my phone's falling apart!

So from what I have gleaned from tinternet... Satio is symbian which some say is dated, X2 is winmo which some say isnt all that and Rachel (X3) is Android with lots a fans... I've not had a smart phone so wouldnt know whats best... I noticed the Aino is going to be Ps3 compatible will that be coming to the others? Would be bludy marvellous if they were ;-)

Anyone heard which network is likely to get the Satio first? I've only seen it advertised on Vodafone, though I had heard a rumour that o2 had an exclusive on it........

re: Sony Ericsson Satio

I spoke with a member of the Vodafone upgrade team this morning.

All being well (if the handset price doesn't shoot up), I'll be getting the Satio on release day with the following allowances:

Minutes: 300 anytime cross network
Texts: Unlimited (I'm more of a texter than a talker)
Internet/data: Unlimited

Phone Cost: FOC
Tariff cost: £25 p/m (18 month contract) OR £20 p/m (24 month contract)
Internet data cost: £5 p/m

Total cost p/m = £30 (18 month contract) or £25 (24 month contract)

Should be seeing a load of press reviews soon:

Quote:
Sony Ericsson has today confirmed the launch of two of its key models for the end of 2009. On October 7th the company has lined up an evening to give full details about launch of the Satio and Aino and to show them off to the press. The handsets will be available soon after.

And Play.com have changed their release date to 16/10/09.

re: Sony Ericsson Satio

It amuses me how the article refers to the Aino as 'The top end camera phone' - I'm almost sure that the Satio's camera is superior to the Aino's in more ways than one - 12MP over the Aino's 8MP. Xenon flash over the Aino's LED ... etc etc.

Sony Ericsson are leaving it rather late to officially launch their new phones - literally a week or two before the Satio's release.
I can only think that their aim is to have the phones fresh in people's minds for their release - or maybe the phone's aren't quite complete yet?!? (which I doubt).

This would be a big draw for me, BUT i'll wait and see what the real deal is. Im guessing its similar to the PSP, and the limations of the psp's media playback.

Of course, using it as a remote control would be quite cool

re: Sony Ericsson Satio

I presume that the remote play feature will initially be specific to the Aino - it's a key feature which will help to sell the phone when competing against/alongside the Satio.

Like most mobile manufacturers - Sony ericsson wont want to put all of their eggs into one basket.

Looks like the Aino will be the only one to come with PS3 remote play... Maybe an

It's definitely coming out on o2 and Vodafone. Not sure which one of those networks will get it first though, or whether Orange and T-Mobile will get it.

Vodafone are advertising it as coming soon on their website. As per usual, o2 are rather non-committal about when they'll be getting the handsets. I would expect the networks to have stock end of this month/early October going by various articles on the internet.

Hopefully we'll get to see some snaps in poor light conditions next, as my mobile' camera only really gets used on nights out when I can't be bothered to lug a separate camera with me.
