Complete SE W810 Guide, debrand/unlock cid 49, debrand cid 50, instructions

Oldish phone but might help some people

The next three posts will focus on:
1) Unlocking and debranding the Cid 49
2) Debranding the Cid 50
3) Patches and extra info

I've done is this into one place, and spent some time gathering the files and putting them into one pack, including putting the own_custpack in the right place. I've also rewrote the guide and redone all the pictures.

Regarding the virus warnings these are false postives triggered by how setools is packaged, please see this thread for info:
[SOLVED] setool2lite v1.11 Trojan horse - Top Sony Forums

But Please note you download files at your own risk, and neither me or avforums are responsible for any damaged caused to your phone or computer.

CID 49 Guide and Files
First off all here is the pack I made with all the files in:
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
It contains:
USBFlashDriver
XS++ (Generic UK Custpack already applied)
setool2lite
W810_R4EA031_FS_EUROPE_2_RED49
W810_R4EA031_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_RED49
Original T Mobile UK Files (custpack + FS)
Instructions.txt (ignore the first line where it mentions cid50 it was a type and should say cid49)
Remove_SIM_lock_R4EA031.VKP - this is the unlock patch you use in XS++ near the end of the guide.
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬
W810i CID-49 unlocking/ debranding guide.
YOU DO THE FOLLOWING AT YOUR OWN RISK:
THIS ONLY WORKS ON CID-49 PHONES, MOST WHITE AND SOME BLACK PHONES ARE CID-50

How to tell what CID your phone is without connecting it to the PC:
Turn the phone on, once you have your wallpaper, with your network name and time date etc.. Press the following keys: > * < < * < * and you will get a service menu come up. Select Service Info and then select Configuation. Press down until you get to the bottom and if you see "C: 49" a line underneath GSM1800 GSM1900 you have a CID-49 phone.
Bewarned that flashing a phone will delete any contacts, numbers etc on the phone. So it's best to do it as soon as you receive it.
DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR PHONE UNTIL THE SOFTWARE TELLS YOU TO, AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY BEFORE STARTING, AS
IT MY TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. IT'S VITAL YOU BACKUP YOUR GDFS AS DETAILED IN THIS GUIDE.
Download this pack:
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
This Custpack is the original Sony Ericsson Generic UK version. Also has the following themes and any associated flash menus: Active Desktop, Avenue, Backstreet, Breakbeat, Club Pulse, Equalizer, Female Line, Fone, Lava Desktop, Lounge, pruebaEQ, RNB, Soundwave, Techno. These are Sonyericisson themes are taken from earlier phones, the w710i/ w800i.
Turn your phone off, remove the battery and put it back in. plug the usb lead into the into the PC but not the Phone yet,
Press and hold down the C button while inserting the USB lead into the phone. After a few seconds Windows should detect a USB flash device you can then release the C button after a few seconds, When windows prompts you for the drivers, use the USB
Flash Drivers downloaded. Unplug/ turn off the phone.
Then run SeTool2 lite. Select W810i as the phone type, click the identify button.

Make sure the CID is 49 (most black w810's are). Click the "Read GDFS" button, this will backup your GDFS (very important!). Exit SE2toolslite. The GDFS file on your phone is unique to your phone, it's vital you back it up and put into a safe place. It will be saved in the directory where setool2lite is located as gdfs_xxxxxxxxxxxx.bin, with xxxxxxxxxxx being your phone's IMEI number. Goto the directory where SETools is located and make sure the backup of the GDFS is present, you may need need this if something goes wrong. DO NOT PROCEDE ANY FUTHER UNLESS YOU
HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR GDFS.
Do not click on the Write GDFS button, FLASH button, or the Unlock/Repair button as these could break your phone
Make sure the phone is off. Run PhoneXS++ press the connect button. Then hold down C and insert the cable into the phone.
Select Flash in the configuration frame at bottom, check the "Flash Main Firmware", "Flash File System" and "Customize File System" checkboxes.

Select W810_R4EA031_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_RED49.mbn as the main, W810_R4EA031_FS_EUROPE_2_RED49.fbn as the file system. Select Own_custpack in as the phone model. Ticking "don't upload SE Wap links" means that you don' t get the connect to Sony Ericsson options everywhre, such as inder the pictures section, the themes section, the sounds section, I recommend this. Now click the flash button.
Don't unplug the phone until you get the following screen:

When that is done, run SE2Tools lite again. Change the phone type to W810i, click identify to make sure it's all ok.

The bits in red are the key bits to note. Notice the differences from the first picture in the thread(pic coming soon).
Then click on the ... button after Misc files and select Remove_SIM_lock_W810_R4EA031.vkp that is the patches archive you downloaded.

Click on 'Write Script', be very careful about which button you click on, if you click on 'Write GDFS' instead of 'Write Script', your phone will be dead. Then with your phone turned off hold down C and plug the cable in. After around a minute you should see:
DETACH CABLE FROM PHONE.
REMOVE BATTERY FROM PHONE, THEN INSERT IT BACK
THEN PRESS "READY"
Once you've done that, it will tell you to hold down C and plug the phone back in(with it still off),
After about another minute you will get a pop up saying:
"No will apply the patch, yes will remove it."
You want to choose no.
Once is done the bar near the bottom left will say ready. And the all the buttons will be clickable again. After that you can then unplug your phone and try it with a different sim!
Your phone should now be unlocked and debranded.

If you get a Configuration Error when the phone starts up then you forgot to tick the own_custpack in XS++, go back and do that step again(no need to re choose the the FS or Main and you don't need to reunlock it again either.

GUIDE TO DEBRANDING A CID-50 W810i PHONE
YOU DO THE FOLLOWING AT YOUR OWN RISK

DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR PHONE UNTIL THE SOFTWARE TELLS YOU TO, AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY BEFORE STARTING, AS IT MY TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS.
IT'S VITAL YOU BACKUP YOUR GDFS AS DETAILED IN THIS GUIDE.

To get it unlocked you are best going to a market stall or asking on SE-NSE Home - Sony Ericsson Forum and Community for a good site to use. Reflashing the phone will relock it in most cases, so make sure it is debranded before you pay to unlock it!
Download this pack:
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
Turn your phone off, remove the battery and put it back in. Plug the usb lead into the into the PC but not the Phone yet, Press and hold down the C button while inserting the USB lead into the phone. After a few seconds Windows should detect a USB flash device you can then release the C button after a few seconds, When windows prompts you for the drivers, use the USB Flash Drivers downloaded. Unplug/ turn off the phone.
DO NOT CLICK ON THE "WRITE GDFS" BUTTON, DOING SO WILL BREAK YOUR PHONE.
Run SETools2, Select W810 as the phone type. Click Identify, Them woth the phone off, hold down C and then insert the cable. make sure it's CID-50. It will say in the information that appears in the window on the left
Click the "Read GDFS" button, this will backup your GDFS (very important!). Then with your phone turned off, hold down C and insert the cable
The GDFS file on your phone is unique to your phone, it's vital you back it up and put in a safe place, I place mine on the memory card for each phone. It will be saved in the directory where setool2lite is located as gdfs_xxxxxxxxxxxx.bin, with xxxxxxxxxxx being your phone's IMEI number. Goto the directory where SETools is located and make sure the backup of the GDFS is present. If something bad happens (computer crash/ powercut while flashing etc), restoring the GDFS should bring your phone back to life. DO NOT PROCEDE ANY FUTHER UNLESS YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR GDFS.
Click the Add button and select W810_R4EA031_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_RED50.mbn then click the Add button again and select W810_R4ED031_FS_EUROPE_2_RED50.fbn. Press the Flash button. Then with the phone off hold down C and insert the cable.

You will know it is finished when the status box beneath the information window says Ready and the buttons are clickable again.
Run XS++. Click on Connect. Then with the phone off hold down C and insert the cable.

Then check only the customize file system.

Your Cid 50 W810 is now debranded!
Some bits of the pictures say Cid 49 it does not matter, I took the pictures using my phone, for you it will simply say Cid 50 instead.
YOU CANNOT PATCH CID-50 PHONES TO UNLOCK THEM. IF YOU TRY, SETOOLS WILL CHUCK UP A MISMATCH ERROR. SETOOLS CAN ONLY WRITE TO THE MAIN ON CID-50, IT CANNOT READ FROM IT AND SO CAN'T PATCH IT

To get it unlocked you are best going to a market stall or asking on SE-NSE Home - Sony Ericsson Forum and Community for a good site to use. Reflashing the phone will relock it in most cases, so make sure it is debranded before you pay to unlock it!

Re: Complete SE W810 Guide, debrand/unlock cid 49, debrand cid 50, instructions

Patches, themes, java applications
Ok first of all here is the download link(~27mb):
Please read this whole post before using it
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

Now the zip file contains 4 folders:
tested patches
these are patches that I have personally used and have had no trouble with them
untested patches
I've not used them but they should be fine(note the patchers from the tested folder are also in here)
Java apps
Just a few Java applications, read the included read me
Flash + Theme Files
A big pack of flash themes.
Please read this whole post before using it
Patches
Ok these patchers are applied in exactly the same way as the unlock patch, so follow the method in the Cid 49 post.
You cannot use patches on a Cid 50 phone!
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

The following can be done on Cid 49 or Cid 50
Java Apps
Just copy these to the other folder on your phone or memory card then on your phone select them and choose install. A read me file is included in the folder.
Flash + Theme Files
Various themes and wallpapers/menus for your phone.
Thank-you
