"halo" effect on Sky Digital

Does anyone else see a "halo" effect on Sky Digital?

I have noticed while watching Sky TV broadcasts recently.

It must be Sky as this Halo effect can be seen at my parent’s home and also at my local pub. (They have got 36" Plasma TV’s)
It is noticeable while watching programs like Sky News where the person in shot is still. You can visible see a white "halo" all round the presenter.
Depending on what the background colour is makes it more noticeable.
Its not just me that’s noticed too, my wife can even see it.
By the way when I'm seeing this effect its when I'm 2 feet away fro the TV and not in my normal viewing position, but you would have thought digital shouldn't have a ghost/halo image.

Well it's not SKY or all 6.85million subscribers would be complaining about that particular effect.

Now modern TV's have a multitude of signal processing abilities not to mention the newish pixel plus and other similar types of image enhancers.
It is not out of the question that the "Halo" effect you are seeing is a by product of those technologies.

That halo could save your plasma suffering from burn-in due to the permanence of the logos on most channels.
If it softens the logo it could be a blessing in disguise.

I noticed that I can only see it at my local pub. Mind you, it's not there to begin with - it only appears after about 6 pints!
