16:9/4:3 sky autoswitching problem

This is my first post, so be gentle with me ...

I've found a strange problem with the widescreen/"normal" autoswitching on my TV. It only seems to have happened since $ky introducted the local BBC channels. The symptoms are; everything works fine until I venture onto BBC1, and thereafter all channels take on the aspect ratio of whatever BBC1 was set to at the time!

The autoformatting thing is one of my favorite features of the telly (I have very low standards) and, quite understandably, I like to watch BBC1 (Tame Academy excluded) so this is a bit of a pain.

I rang $ky, but they said they just passed on whatever the BBC sent to them. I've checked for other threads, and as I can't find one I'm thinking this isn't a widespread problem.

Digi box; Panasonic
TV; Tosh 32 Z18P (which I maybe wouldn't have bought if I'd found this forum first)

Any help gratefully appreciated - Even abuse might take my mind off it.

The BBC are encoding a line 23 WSS signal into all of their regional broadcasts. This is resulting in unexpected results for people with widescreen TV sets. It can also allegedly affect the audio selection in Dolby systems.

JEG M8,

Don't worry your not the only one. I came into this section of this site looking for the same explanation to the problem. Like you say, its only started since the new local service was introduced. Its really annoying. After viewing BBC1 I have to go to a terrestrial channel to get 4:3 back or manually go through the screen modes of the TV.
