SKY and AV Senders

My parents just recently restored an old house in italy and want to get sky. the problem is that the walls of the house are about 2ft thick and they dont want a hole drilled in the room they want the tv. they have a small room off the tv room whihc has thinner walls and is already wired for internet and has a hole drilled in the wall. are the AV senders (such as Simply Digital, Sky Digital, Sky Plus, Freesat, accessories, amplifiers and leads ) the way to go here? can you jsut have your sky box in one room - not connected to a tv - and then have your tv in another room? does there need to be a line of sight? what about the remote on the sky box??

any help would be great.
