no satellite signal being received (29)

My sky suddenly has stopped working, i was getting a message on some channels saying "no satellite singal being received 29" other channels were really blocky and freezing. i decided to turn the box off at the mains after a reboot im now getting no channels at all. I called sky they did the usual run through the menus and now are sending an engineer out but not for 5 days !!!

my box and dish are less than a year old, and there is no apparent damage to the dish outside and it has not moved.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and if there is a fix without waiting for the engineer. Also has anyone else had this problem and if so how was it repaired.

cheers

Re: no satellite signal being received (29)

Happened to me last night during a thunderstorm which was between me & the satellite.
Fine when I tried it this morning though.

You could try working through the checklist: http://satcure.net/digirep.htm#checks
