Better quality picture from RF2?

Wondered if someone could help.

I currently have Sky+ downstairs and am running a double screened high quality cable to the loft (10m) where I have a T140 4 way splitter. This then pipes Sky+ around the house - no run is greater than a further 10m.

The pictire is ok but there is some intereference. Is it possible to get a really good picture from the RF2 (e.g. like a good quality signal from an analogue aerial?) in this way and if so does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Better quality picture from RF2?

You'll never get as good a picture via RF as you would via scart, s-video, component or HDMI - it will always be the worst possible method of transferring picture and sound from digibox to television.

But, if you are suffering from interference it could well be because you have got Sky outputting, and your televisions receiving, the digital satellite signal on an RF channel that is in use by, or close to, an existing terrestrial channel. Try picking an alternative frequency, and tune in one of your televisions to this second frequency, and see whether that improves (or gets rid of completely) the interference. If it does, retune all your other TVs to the same frequency.

Yes, I had this problem myself. I found that my high gain TV aerial was pulling in weak analogue and Freeview transmissions throughout the entire UHF band. There wasn't a single channel that was truly unused. It was easy to see this simply by disconnecting the aerial and watching the Sky picture "clean up". So I fitted a "diplexer" to the aerial cable and this blocked a band of frequencies that didn't carry any of my local stations. I was then able to set my Digibox RF output in the middle of this band and get a nice clean signal.

Obviously you have to select a suitable diplexer or filter to suit your location. So the first thing to do is to make a list of all the analogue UHF channels and Freeview multiplexes that you want, between 21 and 68. Choose a "pass filter" that covers these numbers. If that's not possible, choose a diplexer that blocks other channels.
