Re: Sky Digibox & Freeview

I may be subsequently corrected on this, but to my knowledge satellite receivers and freeview receivers are different and one cannot be used for the other.

So sadly, I think your answer is no.

Unfortunately, the answer is a definite no.

Cheers,

Martin.

Re: Sky Digibox & Freeview

Absolutely definately NO!

The Sky signal is received from a satellite by a dish.

Freeview is received from your local mast by a "normal" (actually Yagi) aerial.

You could, however, continue to use the old box connected to the dish for a small fee.

Re: Sky Digibox & Freeview

I may be wrong but it seems to me that the OP has recently upgraded to Sky+ and still has the original Sky box which he wishes to use to view FTA/FTV channels.

That being the case, another lead needs to be taken from the LNB on the dish (a quad [4] output LNB will be fitted) to the old receiver.
A freesatfromsky card can be obtained from Sky for a £20 one-time payment and will enable C4/Five/Sky3 etc - without the card they won't be viewable.

No phone line connection is required which, I think, is also what the OP is asking

A lot of people are confused by the similarly sounding and named services of
Freesat
freesatfromsky
Freeview

and to confuse further

FTA (FreeToAir)
and
FTV (FreeToView - but a card required)

Exactly my point of a couple of days ago. Mods, can we not have a pinned topic with exact definitions at the top of the forum, please?
