Series Link

Sorry if this is an obvious question.

We had Sky + installed on Sunday.

I set Eastenders to record on Monday (for the wife obviously) and set it up as a series link.

After it had recorded the link disappeared whereas I expected it to go to the bottom of the list for next Monday. Same with Tuesdays.

How do I set it up to record Eastenders every time it's on?

Thanks.

Re: Series Link

Might, (I repeat, might), be connected with the Anytime recordings being loaded. (The Anytime recordings take a couple of days to stabilise).
Try your series links again.

Re: Series Link

That still says there's nothing in it, so I'll give it a few more days.

Cheers

Re: Series Link

What Sky package do you have? You should have some Anytime recordings in there by now.

It wouldn't go to the bottom of the list for next Monday. It would be added to the list for the next time it is on. Series link records the next episode, regardless of what day it is on. If you are trying to set series link on for each day in advance seperately, you are almost certainly turning series link on and off multiple times - so it is not surprising that the box is getting itself in a knot.

Either:-

You aren't looking in the right place for it, as you are expecting it to be set to a week in advance rather than a day in advance. Or, whoever is doing the watching of the programme (you say your wife but we don't believe you ) is deleting both the programme which has just been watched, and also the next episode in the list which is still to be recorded. Or, you are turning series link off when you think you are turning it on for a different day. Or your box isn't working properly...

True - I had forgotten that. If you delete a recording before the box has actually finished recording, it will delete the series link as well.
Thanks for reminding me Broadz - Now, if you could just explain that to the wife...........

I suspect I've set it up wrong then as I've four Eastenders on the screen, all on series link. I'll delete three and see if that works.

Yep, should only ever have one future episode of a series-linked series in the planner. As that records it will automatically add the next episode in itself (and autoset it to be series linked, so that it will add its successor as it records).

You have absolutely no need to delete the three series links that you have already entered unless you wish to check that it is working correctly. Those series links will work and merely place another series link for the next day which already exists (until you are down to the last one) so you will see no difference in the planner until the last series linked programme starts recording when a new one should appear.

BTW you can delete series linked programmes whilst they are still recording without affecting future series links as the next series link is programmed within a minute or two of a series linked programme starting to record.
