Free Sky+ Plus £30 Install

Just thought I'd share news of my dealings tonight in case it is of use to anyone else. I have subscribed to the family mix (no premium channels) for 9 years and I phoned tonight, using the suggestions on the Sky HD thread, to try to get a reduced installation of either Sky+ HD or normal Sky+.

The usual downgrade route was met with no success so I rang again and spoke to a very helpful chap, but he could offer no Sky+ HD deals (other than the standard £150 + £60 installation) and could only offer Sky+ for £75 plus £30 installation provided I increase my talk package by £5 per month to include daytime calls (not a lot of use to me when I am at work!)

I then discussed how I go about cancelling, mentioning that I had been looking at Virgin but would stay with Sky if they could offer me something, but he couldn't offer anything so I asked to be put through to cancellations.

When I got through to cancellations, the person there had a note of my discussions with the previous person and then proceeded to check out what final options were available. As a longstanding customer, I was offered Sky HD for £99 plus £30 installation provided I took out a 12 month HD subscription at £10 per month, or free Sky+ with £30 installation. I went for the latter option which gives me a cheap install of a quad LNB with the option to switch to Freesat in a year if that has more HD channels at a cheaper price.

Hopefully this information will be of use to some and I will copy this into the Sky+ HD thread as well as it may be of use for people looking for a cheap HD upgrade who are not on the full Sky package.

What a discrace,but then again my brother inlaw was going to cancel virgin and was offered a free upgrade to the hd box which he has taken and is over the moon with the picture quality of all the channels and for free
