Lip Sync Problem on Movies
Hi,
We have Sky+ connected to a Sony DAVS-500 (quite an old one) surround sound home cinema kit.
We've been having issues with Sky Movies producing problems of Lip Synching not matching up.......has anyone experienced this before?
We also have problems on the Planner in Sky+ where the actual programme description disappears and is replaced by the description of something entirely different???
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
charlie

Are you using an optical connection? If so there is an option under Services/System Set Up/Sound Settings/Optical output delay to correct this. (PS I have found "Dave" particularly bad for lip synching)

A Sky problem I think.

BF think its connected using the red/white audio connectors.

Has this just come on or been there all the time?

Could be that the home cinema system is processing a simple stereo signal much faster than your TV is processing the TV picture - or vice versa. See whether you get the same lip sync problems when watching and listening just using TV (and TV speakers). If that is in sync, then you need to see whether there is the ability to adjust delay on your home cinema system. If it is out of sync as well, it's just Sky playing silly buggers (not for the first time)...

Or you could try just holding a DVD recorder in front of the Sky box and see if it records anything..............Only joking!! (Previous prat post)

No, it doesn't happen all the time - usually just when its a film you really want to watch.
Will try using the TV speakers and report back!

Best solution - change what kind of films you like and don't like (but don't tell your Sky box). That way, your Sky box will think it's playing a film that you aren't bothered about, so won't play it out of sync to annoy you. But you can sneakily watch it without the box knowing (pretend you're reading a book instead) and you'll get to watch and hear it properly.

Re: Lip Sync Problem on Movies
some movies are out of sync on sky anyway. not alot but a few. me and the mrs have noticed it on a few occasions so maybe its sky thats the problem with yours too. Only noticed it on movies BTW no other channels for us. Trying to think which movie it was last weekend that was slightly out.
we have ours connected through normal rgb scart to tv so theres no home cinema issue with us
