Sky Anytime? Not with an old box!!!!
I've had sky plus 2 years.
My box is too old to get Sky Anytime. no one told me, I had to work it out for myself after customer services suggested to wait for the upgrade. It was only my research that told me it was an old model.
I called Sky to ask for a box that would work (hey, I pay the same as everyone else, why shouldn't I get thier advertised, free service?).
Sky asked for £99 plus £60 fitting.
I then had eight (yes 8) calls to argue my disgust at this. I was constantly transferred to different departments (one minute sales, then technical, then India?). I was cut off by the operator 4 times after a loooong wait to be put through.
I was finally told I only need to pay £99.
Then I asked to leave. Suddenly it was £49.
Sky Anytime???? For me it is still not ever time!!!!
Useless

Re: Sky Anytime? Not with an old box!!!!
I bought a Playstation 2 a couple of years back - to my disgust I found it wouldn't play Playstation 3 games, even though Sony are advertising them on TV. I phoned Sony and asked for a free upgrade to a PS3, and they told me I couldn't have a free upgrade, I would have to pay for it. To my disgust they didn't put me through to India 8 times to argue the toss about it. PS3 - in my opinion it's "doesn't work on a PS2"!!!
Useless.

Re: Sky Anytime? Not with an old box!!!!
I think you miss the point. I pay the same every month as anyone else... My brother gets it, and he had sky installed before me!
I just got a duff box?

You pay the same every month as everyone else - but like you said, it's a free service. You're not paying for Anytime, nobody is, so why should you automatically get it? If Sky were charging you an extra (say) fiver a month for the Anytime service, you would be justified in demanding a box that can receive it. But you aren't paying for it.
It's like Sky Anytime via phone, if you haven't got a phone that can play back videos then you can't get it. But neither Sky nor Nokia are automatically going to give you a phone that can pick up Sky Anytime service. Sky Anytime via PC requires Windows Media Player 11, which basically insists on you having Windows XP or Vista and the latest version of Media Player. I've only got Media Player 10, can't get 11, but you can bet that neither Sky nor Microsoft are going to supply me with a new computer or a new version of Windows that will allow me to get Anytime via PC. It's a free service - if you can get it all well and good, if you can't, well, you haven't paid for it anyway.
You didn't get a duff box, you got a box the same as maybe 80% of current Sky+ owners (and all standard Sky owners) - not a PVR3, so doesn't support Anytime. If you desperately want this free service (and a lot of people who can get it have switched it off), Sky have offered you a box that is capable of getting it for less than fifty quid - and you've turned it down. You could have sold your old Sky+ box on eBay for more than that if you'd taken them up on the offer. So you obviously don't want it that much.
As far as your brother goes, I didn't think PVR3s were around two years ago - they may have been, but I thought they arrived on the scene about 18 months ago. I'm sure someone can correct me on that. If that is the case, either he has bought a replacement Sky+ box (PVR3) or had his original Sky+ box replaced because the original developed a fault, he bought Sky+ after you, or you got Sky+ a lot less than two years ago.

Re: Sky Anytime? Not with an old box!!!!
The first PVR3s appearred in Autumn 2005.
When you originally obtained your box Anytime was not even around and you were happy with it (you must have been you've had it two years) and now you are suddenly unhappy and are trying to demand a free replacement as you say it is a duff box. Why don't you go the whole hog and demand an HD box after all no Sky+ box will get the BBC HD service which is also free. I certainly agree with Broadz and suggest you get real.

Re: Sky Anytime? Not with an old box!!!!
Sky anytime only shows what is on the channels anyway. They also decide what to put on the box not you. Since I've had a box with anytime on it all I've got is films and sport that I can't watch because I don't subscribe and mainly kids programs that I'm also not interested in. The only program I watched was on National Geographic and was being repeated anyway.
I wouldn't worry about anytime, especially if you want to upgrade the disc in your box as with a non-anytime box you get the full capacity of the disc you put in. In an anytime box you automatically lose 80GB.

Re: Sky Anytime? Not with an old box!!!!
I've got an "old" box that doesn't take Anytime, and to be honest it doesn't bother me. What does irritate me is that SKY are advertising Anytime as being available to ANYONE with SKY+ or HD, which isn't technically true.
I e-mailed SKY to let them know that they really should put a disclaimer at the bottom of their adverts that states that not all SKY+ boxes are compatible. In response I was told that SKY was under no obligation to provide me with a free upgrade (I didn't ask for one) and that I could still get Anytime via my PC.
At least I tried....

Not strictly true. You do tend to get the Premiere movies shown in high def quicker on Anytime than they get shown on Sky Movies HD1 and HD2. But, since the OP is talking about Sky+, not Sky HD, that's not really relevant anyway.
