Rain = No Sky

Getting fed up with this now. Haven't been able to watch TV ALL DAY due to the rain.....

Given it rains in England quite a bit, perhaps they need to rethink the analogue switch off plan given when analogue is gone and it's raining I won't be able to watch anything at all.

Anyone else SKY-less at the moment?

Re: Rain = No Sky

Digital Sky + Rain = No picture (Quite often and a pain)
Digital Freeview + Rain = Picture (No problem) so analogue switch off not affected.

I have lost signal only six times in over eight years of Sky on a self installed 43 cm dish. You do not state your location which would help. In the north and Scotland you possibly need the 60cm dish.

If you have the correct sized dish for your area and it is correctly aligned with no trees etc in the way you should only ever lose signal in the most severe thunderstorms. After all even Virgin Media download many of their channels from satellite feeds.

Get an installer out to realign your dish if you are not capable of doing it yourself - no signal in rain is totally unacceptable.

The symptoms the OP describes could also be down to a faulty and/or incorrectly fitted LNB, which is what happened in my case. After getting an independent installer out and getting a new LNB on all my problems with satellite reception in harsh weather went away.

Re: Rain = No Sky

I only have sky disappear in really bad rain and it usually only lasts for 5-10mins so I just browse the net during that time
