Sky+ Wont record what im watching

Has anyone had this problem before

I cant record a program unless i do it from the TV Guide page

My Sky + wont record from the remote the channel im watching which is a pain sometimes is there a fix for this or is my box on its way out

never had problems with Sky+ before

Can you display the "Now and Next" banner or is its timeout set to 0 seconds? Not obvious, I know, but "instant record" and "now and next" are interrelated.
