Sky gave me a crap Amstrad box!

HI

had sky installed at my new home and recieved the new amstrad box free from sky. Problem is that it doesnt even have optical out! so i cant even get dolby digital out of it!

Im now lookin for a new box but just want to clarify a few things:

1. Do all boxes have the same picture quality/performance? im after the best!
2. If i get a sky+ box, can i just ring them up and have + enabled as im paying for the basic sky package?

No current standard Sky boxes have optical out, this feature is only on the Sky+ and Sky HD boxes.

For Sky+ you will need a new quad lnb (bit in front of dish) and extra cable to the box as Sky+ requires two feeds from the lnb to dodgibox.

Of the current Sky+ boxes the best are Pace, closely followed by Amstrad (who seem to have got their act together) with Thomson in a poor third.
