New Sky Movies

Hi I was just looking at the new sky movies line up and was quite excited to see that they were seperating the movie channels into genres. However looking at the sky tv listings it showed many of the newly named channels as not starting till mid day or in some case early evening!

I hope this is not an attempt by sky to hide the fact that they are actually going to be showing less films

Am I being paranoid?

Re: New Sky Movies

I have just been through the listings, and not only are there less movies, Premier doesnt start until 4pm etc, but they have the cheek to show the exact same films from the this Saturday until next Wednesday, so thats only 5 so called Premiers on for 5days as they are all repeated!

What is the point of subscription now, the other channels seem to be more repeats that ever, ok it seems like an ok idea to split things into genre but at least put some more movies on, we are paying more subs now than ever before however their service seems to be getting less and less, Roll on Richard Branson and his plans for VirginMedia.

Seriously looking at removing movies, if not Sky altogether.

Re: New Sky Movies

It's went from 10 Movie channels plus 2 Sky Cinema channels to effectively 9 movie channels (discounting the prem +1 due to SKy+ functionality) and then taking in to account the new start times, I think I feel royally shafted

Re: New Sky Movies

Noticed this myself this morning, i was thinking of cancelling Movies anyway but this has tipped me over the edge, gonna phone up today and cancel Movies.

Definately less movies on show due to the start times. Very clever and sly of Sky.

Re: New Sky Movies

Dont think its sky being clever more a case of them asuming their customers are dumb enought to fall for it. Well its tipped me over the edge so as soon as BSG finishes I am cancelling sky!!

Re: New Sky Movies

Just cancelled Movies - gave reason as the changes to the start times and not having time to watch movies.

Didn't get any counter offers at all, which is great as I didnt want the hassle, saves me £6 a month.

Know the feeling.

Just signed up to Sky as a new customer & had my kit installed last Friday. There was no mention of changes afoot when I phoned them up to order (but conveniently it's covered in their t&c's!).

For the 1st few days not only did I have more channels but the film selection was much better. Looking ahead for the next week there are probably only a couple I have any interest in watching. Seems like they've ditched a lot of newer films in favour of old & modern 'classics' (was the Karate Kid ever considered a classic???)...

Re: New Sky Movies

Only possible plus point for me is the addition of the two independant HD channels which used to be a copy of what was on SM9&10, but I haven't had a chance to see what content is on these yet, probably load of poop as usual.

Re: New Sky Movies

We're not happy with the new line up either!

Less Channels and sooooo many films repeated throughout the day, think we're gonna drop sky in favour of freeview and top up tv anytime, saving us approx £40 a nonth!

Just noticed that Sky Movies Premier and Premier +1 have been dropped from my favourites list? Not sure if they come back when they start broadcasting in the early evening, have to wait till tonight to find out.

How considerate of SKY???????

Re: New Sky Movies

Im in ireland and sky is the best provider of Digital telly but stuff like this annoys the hell out of me.They are all like robots on the phone i tried to change the name on the subscription for our house and the person on the phone gave me wrong direction on how to proceed with it .. few weeks down the line and they cut off my viewing because direct debit wasnt right.Any way i was throwing my money at them but couldnt turn on my viewing because of a line of procedure

They have no loyalty to people.I think there system is to automated they just cut ya off in a blink of an eye and act as if your lokokin for free telly when you ring up trying to sort things out AHHHHHH

Re: New Sky Movies

We've never had any problems searching for movies through the epg - so this change to 9(+1) categories adds nothing and actually reduces the choice at any one time. I assume there will be a cut in the monthly fee coming as a result....??

Re: New Sky Movies

not happy either

we only really had sky for the movies and sky+

i looked at my planner for the next week and the only things worth watching on my sky packages are 24/lost/rescue me.and few of the new premieres

i was going to cancel the movies and buy a pvr to replace my lost sky+ features.then looked at the epg and though i might aswell cancel the lot.
untill i realised i have multiroom and sky broadband contracts.

without the old movies line up it wasnt worth having.
the new movie line up isnt worth having
without any movies at all its not woth having to me at all but i have to keep it for the contracts so
