My Sky Conpiracy theory.
I'm sorry if this has been posted before but just wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar.
During my time as a sky customer i have had 2 sky boxes. At the end of each warranty period i get the 'extended warranty' phone call.
Well like many there is no way in hell i'm paying them to extend the warranty of something they generate large wads of cash from but on both occasions my sky has started to act up within on week of the phone call. infact the last time was about 10 mins after the call during a liverpool game
Anyway, spoken to other people and all have similar tales to tell. are we all just being paranoid or is there something going on?
incidentally, mines been crap since the call and at no point has it got better. it was perfect beforehand!!

Re: My Sky Conpiracy theory.
I think you're being a little paranoid there.
But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there's nobody following you

Re: My Sky Conpiracy theory.
Can I ask you to stay out a little longer next time? I really had to rush 'doing the business' to your box when you came home sooner than I expected.

Re: My Sky Conpiracy theory.
I've had the phone call, and the follow up letters months ago and my box is still fine.
Frankly, if ever it did breakdown, I'm sure that sky would replace it for a fee that is far less than the price of the extended warranty, rather than loose my continuing subscription.
Anyway, good luck with the paranoia and keep taking the tablets

Re: My Sky Conpiracy theory.
uuuuummmmm, I may have to agree with you here.
I had the extended warranty phonecall weeks ago, suddenly I have had to reset the box 3 times since then. I missed the whole of the first half of the Arsenal v Liverpool game, Sky+ 'd it so that we could watch it from the beginning, due to it freezing when trying to watch it.
Paranoia or coincidence???
Well I didnt take out the warranty because its a lot of money and if it does go wrong I will say I am going over to V+ then I am sure Retentions will give me a call and offer me all kinds of deals to stay!

Re: My Sky Conpiracy theory.
There's a perfectly simple explanation for this:
Your Sky Digibox contains some small mice that work all the features of the box (a bit like Bagpuss). There is enough food in the box to last for 12 months, after which the little mice get hungry, lethargic and ultimately die. Tired mice are responsible for most of the glitches you see on your picture from time to time. If you take out the extended warranty Sky sends a message to the Digibox that opens up a small box containing the second 12 month supply of food. The engineer can also do this manually if he has called out to fix your box. Obviously if your mice have died he will take the box away and replace it with another one containing well-fed and active mice. Sky engineers have a weekly funeral service for all the dead mice.
Those of you that have had boxes last longer than 12 months, without taking the extended warranty, should check their kitchens for mouse droppings. Some earlier Digiboxes contains holes large enough for the mice to escape and search for food. They are more likely to go out at night while you are sleeping, and nip back into the box again before you even notice.
Anyway, I hope that clears the matter up. Next time Sky phone you up offering an extended warranty, think of the poor mice and consider taking up the offer. No point in asking the Sky rep about the mice (although you could try) as they are sworn to secrecy. Must go, the gerbils in my PS3 are getting a bit restless...

Re: My Sky Conpiracy theory.
Hybrid mice ? Guess it's possible, but have to be careful, coz if all the mice don't get on you could end up with a fight on your hands...some people have had their Sky + hard-drives deleted accidentally by warring mice. I remember a beta version that used a couple of fiesty guinea pigs, absolute carnage.
