sky pay per view quality

hi - ive never bought a pay per view event before, but im quite tempted by the de la hoya/mayweather fight coming up, and quite a lot of mates are interested. ive done a bit of a search to try and find out what the picture quality of these are like on the whole, but havent found anything. so, on average what are they like?

basically, i need to decide whether to pay for it and watch it at home or find a pub with it on an sd tv. if its going to be a poor picture i may as well watch it at a pub (it also gets away from me having to explain 'i thought this was a high def tv?' questions from un educated friends )

Re: sky pay per view quality

not being funny but you might have better luck in the HD forum, from the perspective of most people here the picture quality will be no different to normal sky sports, if you see what I mean

Re: sky pay per view quality

well, it would be just a regular sky broadcast to a regular non hd sky box, assuming this is still done? sorry if i didnt make that clear, i would have posted in the sky hd forum if i was meaning a sky hd broadcast!

sd material quality varies so much on sky for me, with channels like the bbc's, five and film4 being the best. ive never watched any sky channels like sports or movies (bar things like skiy one etc) and i was just asking what they were like, especially as this would be a live broadcast from the us, and maybe how they compare, bitrate wise to others!

Re: sky pay per view quality

ah sorry, your HD telly threw me. Picture quality on PPV boxing has always looked good to me (akin to Sky Sports), but I only use a 32 inch set.

No idea on the bit rates sorry
