skybox dead?

The box is showing power, it reacts to the remote ( switches on/off etc) but no sky programms or picture is on the TV. I have unplugged, re inserted connections etc but still no pic on the TV. (it is an old system and I do not subscribe to sky) could it be the box or the LNB?

Am I missing something? If it's not a Sky box, it won't get Sky channels.

But you wrote "9old system not with sky)"!

Therefore you can't expect it to receive Sky channels.

Yes, something has blown.

Maybe you have solved this by now but if not - if you have a friend/neighbour with dish you could connect your box to their dish to check if it is the box or lnb. How is the box connected to TV - you could try other ways of connecting e.g. aerial output as opposed to SCART. Just fumbling in the dark here.

I'm guessing he means he has a Sky digibox but no longer subscribes to any Sky package. Power cuts are big killer of digiboxes, that's why I always advise my customers to purchase power surge protection trailing sockets (especially the ones with the phone protection too - as 95% of the time the damage comes via the phone connection).

are there any error messages (e.g no sat signal being received?)

Cheers, Franc
