The best Sky box connection?

I searched through the posts looking for the answer but couldn't get exactly what i was looking for.

I have a Grundig GDS310/2 Sky STB with 2 x Scart & 1 x S-Video output.

I currently use the S-Video out to my tv tuner card (Theatrix 550 Pro) on my pc and the quality is as good as it is normally connected to my tv/ monitor Dell 2405FPW.

My question is, what connection would give the best quality from my box to my pc? It only has s-video & composite in.

Would converting a superior quality connection ie. scart=> s-video be better than s-video on it's own or would there be much point in doing so?

I know there's no point in changing the setting within the sky box set-up to rgb unless i'm actually gonna be using the scart out.
I also know there's no point in converting scart (rgb) => composite as that's worse than s-video!

Any help would be great, even if it's just a link to another post that's buried somewhere in here (that i couldn't find) with the answer.

Cheers!

Richie

I suspect you ain't gonna get better than Svideo.

As you know RGB scart is better but the expense of getting a converter would probably only get you a marginal improvement.

You've got the best combination already. No point in converting RGB to S-Video when you've already got an S-Video socket on the Grundig Digibox.

yep leave it alone. svideo will be the best unless you buy the hd box and use the HDMI connection but that would cost megabucks! Cheers, Franc

Thanks very much for your reply's. I supppose i'm always just looking for better quality whenever i can! hehe

One question though. If getting a Sky+ box and recording to the internal drive, would you then be able to transfer directly from the drive to say a hard-drive on a pc? Therefore cutting out any conversion that the box would do over the S-Video connection?

The reason I ask is that I downloaded a music video before about 3years ago, I can see it was recorded off TMF and the quality (even though it's converted down to about 115MB) and is crystal clear compared to my almost dvd quality captures over S-Video.

Any ideas?
