What is the best way to phone sky from abroad without sky being able to see my phone number.

You could try using something like Skype or one of the other 'telephone from your PC over the internet' applications ... If they ask you why they are getting a weird CLID number then point out that this is just the way that Skype works. Of course, you are using Skype because you get really cheap calls and therefore don't have a landline...

If they still are stroppy, then tell them to call you back on your UK mobile number (assuming you have one available). They have no way to know that you are out of the UK, though you could pick up quite a hefty roaming bill if the call takes a while.

They could well notice the dialing tone of the mobile is not a normal UK one if you got them to call it.
Email them & tell you're deaf, ask them to deal with your query via email.
