Pace vs Amstrad Sky+ boxes?

My Sky+ box has been playing up for some time - lock-ups, resets, refusing to recognise viewing card - so I'm thinking of getting a replacement.

There are a few on Ebay for reasonable prices - a mixture of Pace and Amstrad.

I'm leaning towards a Pace (probably one of the 160 ones) one as my current one is an Amstrad (I think it's a DRX 180) - is that a wise move, or are the newer Amstrad ones any better?

Also spotted some Thompson ones which are an unknown quantity to me - are they any good?

Thanks in advance.

Go for a PACE. They are much better than The Amstrad machines.

My Amstrad PVR3 is quicker, quieter and has a better picture than the 160 box I bought off ebay. That 160 box lasted just 3 months.

The "160 box" was made by Thomson, not Pace.

I know, the OP made that error and referred to "getting a 160" one.

The point is still valid that my PVR3 outperforms my old 160 one.

Sorry for confusing things - by 160 I meant one with a 160Gb HD fitted, not necessarily the "160" model.

I take it the latest Amstrad box is more reliable than the early one I have then?

Get a Pace or Thomson. They are way better than Amstrads.
