Pin Entering
Ok I posted a while back that even with all pin protection options off and someone mentioned that sky was going to appply an update so the pin protection films u record you dont have to re-enter the code.
I am getting ****** off with pressing backup skipping 4M and going into film just to have to re-enter the damn code.

They said the same thing to me in an email, i find it annoying having to grab the remote control and put in the pin number every time.

The default PIN is the last 4 digits of your viewing card number. Get it off the system details page or look on the back of the viewing card.

It's the last 4 digits of your viewing card number. (earthling just got in before me)
Note that if you have a mirror system then it is the last 4 digits of your primary viewing card number - this is used for all boxes.
You can now change the PIN without having to ring up Sky which is an improvment - at least you can set it to something simple so make the prompt a little less annoying.
Cheers,
Nigel

Is there any way to get around having to put your pin in. why should i have to put my pin number in if i subscribe to the movie channels and i am over 18. all of the child protection rubbish has never been switched on so when i want to watch a movie, lets say "I Robot" in HD the bloody thing keeps prompting me for a PIN

um, not correct.......the pin for my box is my viewing card, the pin for the box downstairs is the viewing card in the box downstairs.......
i think however if you end up getting a new viewing card its still the last 4 digits of the first card in that box on your account........dont know that for certain as i'm still on the first cards....lol

well, yes, it would be nice, but so far it isnt to be........is it really that amazingly time consuming to enter 4 digits on a remote control?.....and to counter the usual answer to this of 'i might not remember it' then just tape the answer to the remote......

Re: Pin Entering
It doesn't quite work like that though.
Now you can't record a film while you are out of the house. Missed the beginning of Harry Potter this evening, which was being recorded on one of my non-sky HDD recorders.
I don't even understand why a pin code was being asked for - it claimed to be a 12 certificate, shown at 20:00.

i think its because its before the watershed?
Whilst some people may say its not difficult to enter the number i find it bloody annoying, technology is suppose to make our lives easier i thought but this PIN issue just winds me up and is very inconvenient.

Agreed -
and I've just been promted for a pin code on C4 to as I was flicking through The Passion of the Christ - after 22:00, so no watershed issue there.
I can't turn the bloody Pin code thing off (no-one to protect in my household), and can't guarantee that anything I record will actually be shown.
..........and no, I'm not about to spend another £10 . month for Sky+
grrrr..
