Communal Dishes using one feed, best method to record

Hi All

Those of you that are using one feed through a communal dish, have you had any problems when trying to record?

Of course, we cannot record one programme while watching another. However, on more than one occasion, I have set it to record a programme, left it on the channel in which I want to record and then switched it to standby mode. More often than not, using this method the box fails to record due to "no signal". It's only if I leave it switched on that it will record 100% (well, near enough) of the time.

Do you leave you box switched on or in standby when you've set to record a programme?

Cheers.
