soud ? what sound ?

Sky HD box has now decided to act thus:

Connected to amp with digi optical cable - been working fine

Now ! - sound settings - optical - normal - all channels have sound.

Optical - setting - DD - no sound on any of the Sky movies - including the HD 9 & 10 ??????????????????

Sky CS - "must be a connection fault" - what ?

Any ideas ???????????????????

yes - mine has been working fine on DD - up until a couple of days ago - hence writing this.

So how's this to be sorted ?

Plug another DD 5.1 source into the same optical input, to check that the input on the amp is working correctly. If so, then the HD box has a faulty optical output and needs sorting. Don't let Sky CS fob you off on this one - you payed good money for the box and are still paying even more for the subscription. They need to fix the box if it's not doing what it should be doing!

I figured out my problem. The Sagem RPTV that I use keeps loosing sound for some reason on certain channels, now whether this is as a result of something happening in the Sky box I'm not sure but at least I can get the sound back with a bit of fiddling!

Has anyone got any helpful info from sky yet?

i have been on to them 3 times, now waiting for a call back from 2nd line support,

they say they have never herd of this problem and have no idea what it could be, the amp is fine, my 360 / dvd player output 5.1 no problem using same cable,

oh one of the test i had to to was plug in my component leads as this "enables 5.1 on the optical"

I must have a faulty box, as mine is "enabled" without the component connection in use

Seriously, they just need to accept that the box is faulty, for goodness sake!

Hi guys you can also try an email to the man at the very top the owner of sky thats what i done, after loads of usless calls to sky I found out that he hates getting them from unhappy customers and kicks ass when he does . So 1 day after sending one, i had call after call from sky to help sort out the sound issue's which are the same as your's and as a software download made it worse a new hd box will be fitted on wednesday. Funnily enough when asked if there was a problem with the sound for hd, sky said " no not that we are aware of, there had been very few complaints from customers " SO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM GET THE COMPLAINT LOGGED and as sky moniter this site if you wish the email address to complain to just pm me and I will gladly provide it. cmon guys get busy.
