Cancelling Sky - Phone Number?

Hi All

I want to ring up and cancel sky - has anyone got the best phone number to ring? (I'm at work and the sky website is blocked, so I can't look on there - so I thought this would be the quickest way).

Thanks

Si.

Best trick ever that! Used it many a time.

I was just wondering, I have had sky for a long time (well over the mandatory 12 month period) and I am toying with the idea of cancelling but would sky want to regain me as a customer thus offering me a better deal (eg few months half price or similar)?

I called Sky last week to cancel because the box was faulty (kept switching itself off) and they put me on to a retention guy.

He was a good bloke and arranged a call to fix my Sky free of charge this week. I now have a working box.

This was on the same day as my mum got a letter telling her that's her first year up and a warranty to cover her box for a further year would cost £59.

The Freeview has hit them hard and they will do deals/offers to keep people.

Beware of any letter that is offering you a warranty - it won't be from Sky because they don't sell warranties and they will only refer customers who want one to Domestic and General.

Sky have always offered reduced subscription as a way to prevent you from cancelling so you will definately be offered something.

When phoning sky in an attempt to get a better deal, should I threaten them with the fact that I am using freeview already and I am happy with the service or should I let them know that I am considering it as a viable option?

No need the threaten them. When I got a letter from them last week informing me that my sub was increasing by £5 a month I called the number on the letter and was prepared to have a real moan when the operator offered me a retention deal without prompting. If I agree to stay with them for another year (i.e, have another 12 month contract) they will give me a 25% discount, so my monthly sub is now £24.
I've been with Sky for years (since their analogue days) so I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it's worth a go.

I cancelled about a month ago. They rang me a couple of days ago to see if I would like to rejoin 1/2 price for 6 months (any package). I said that I didn't watch enough TV to warrent the cost which is probably why they offered the 1/2 price deal.

Thanks everyone!
I got through to the cancellations dept and they offered me the 25% discount so I have accepted. Will make quite a bit of difference over the year even though the subs are going up.
