Sky+ - free box but not sure if compatible

Hi All,

A friend has kindly offered to donate me his Sky+ box because he has just upgraded to SKY HD.

I currently have sky with a single LNB and single receiver and pay £19 per month for a basic channel package.

Is it as simple as just swapping boxes or do I need to notify sky, if so is there a fee involved.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

You will need a dual LNB and need to pay sky more money to use the box.

For Sky+, if you have at least one movie or sports package then FREE, if you don't then £10/month, so you may as well get a movie channel. You need another link from your LNB to be fully functional, which could mean a new LNB fitted. Also need a new Sky card to be paired with the + box.
Dame sure that is all correct, anyone please say otherwise.

Thanks for your responses. Much appreciated.

Not really in the mood to pay Sky for anything else so I may as well turn down my friends offer. I'm sure he can probably sell the unit and at least make some money.

Again thanks.
