Video Overaly on RGB Issue...perhaps..?

ok, forget about component and HDMI for a minute and focus on the scart (RGB)..

I've noticed some instability with the video overlay (synopsis/search&scan banner etc) on SD channels. (not menus/EPG)

The outer border and text seems to twitch a little like their's an interlace problem.
Also on some scenes, the picture movement seems to influence the video overlay resulting in a slight wobble of the text itself..

These effects seem to have a pulsing motion similar to a continuous resync cycle.

I had never noticed this on my PV500 with my Pace Sky+ box and can confirm it's restricted purely to the scart.

No other RGB equipment (over the same scart via a switch) exhibits this behaviour either..
(& yes I've tried the box direct and it's not the switch)

It's been happening for a little while now and it's getting on me tats now

Anyone else notice overlay issues via the scart in RGB?

Dont see thios problem on my normal HDTV, but have one of the scart outputs sent via digisender to another SD TV. When I display any of the sky banners on that screen the screen goes out of sync slightly and I get a buzzing noise.

That's because your main TV is connected via HDMI..

That'll be the digisender...

As for the 'twitchy' graphics, can we assume then this is not a problem for those watching SD material in RGB from the TV Scart....?

That would make my box faulty (Hardly a surprise though lol)

I've noticed this about the 'search & scan' banner in the past with my old Sony stb, and Sky+ and with Sky HD too. e.g. the top of the box can flicker if anything big and bright goes near it.

Definately doesn't happen on HDMI though.

if your reffering to what i think your reffering to then you have just stumbled onto the only drawback of rgb scart (other than lack of HD)

anything that has strong white horizontal lines and text will give you this effect, its mostly notable on DVD menus, video games and video overlays.

its just how it is im afraid, try turning your contrast down as it is probably too high

EDIT: are you talking about a CRT screen btw?

I've seen it with Sky HD box set to LOW contrast, and with ISF calibrated screen; furthermore, can see it when deinterlaced by expensive external video processors too. Never noticed it on CRT.

Not visibile on all strong white horizontal lines and/or text, only top pixel line of Sky 'now & next' banner bar.

I only noticed the 'twitching' on the text itself on the HD box, the Pace V2 Sky+ never had any such issues over RGB on my PV500..

The text was stable and certainly didn't wobble on some scenes..

I've always ignored the initial line (top) of the overlay, as that's merely an interlace issue, but wobbling and twitching text are new to me....

It certainly is not exclusive to high contrast scenes, standard scenes cause the entire overlay to wobble like jelly and the twitching is best described as a slight vertical shake due to a suspected interlace issue..

I feel a phone call coming on
