Thought- how do you pay-direct debit? If so you have control. Do you really think they will come after you or take you to court for fifty smackers?

If you have continuous payment set up on your cresit card then you may be lumbered even after proper cancellation.

you can cancel instantly, phone em up, say you are short of money

1) first they offer you the "2 picks" for £15 a month
2) then they offer you the "2 picks" for £7.50 a month (6 months)
3) as they enter all your details to cancel, they often find a "2 picks" for 75p a month (6 months)

then they cancel your account ...... option 3) isn't always offered.

Are you intending to use Sky when you come back after six weeks?

I've not had a problem suspending my account for several weeks with immediate effect - but T&C does say notice is required to cancel.

You can drop down to the lowest package immediate and also give cancel notice for 28 days time.

They will chase you for £50. They put it in the hands of a debt collector. They did that to me in error once. I raised the roof and threatened the debt collector with a Harassment charge.

I agree with ozsat. Drop to the lowest package (£15 I think) and then give notice of cancellation if you haven't already done so. Follow this up in writing and send by recorded Delivery.
