Which Sky+ Box??

Hi all,

I'm scheduled for a Sky+ install on Monday.

Which box is best? I see that Pace get good things said about them. Are they all pretty much the same?

I have a 32" Samsung HD LCD TV, so would like the pic quality to be as good as poss.

Would you reccommend using S Video for this? Composite?

Do any of them have component out?

Many thanks!!!

Do you not want to wait for the new HD box to come out, are you a new subscriber to sky as history shows that as a new customer you get better deals, so if you get a new box now when HD does come out you will be treated the same as the rest of us, ive been putting off getting sky+ until HD comes out as i dont want to pay for a box now and then have to pay again for new HD box, also when you get a new Sky+ box do you have to take out a new 12 month subscription, as if so im definately waiting as im currently out of my 12 months so I have better bargaining when HD comes out

You don't usually get a choice of box if the install is arranged via Sky, although if the installer has been allocated a batch of boxes, a cup of coffee and a friendly chat can often bring you the box you want. RGB via scart or s-video would be the best connection method - there are no boxes with component out.

Thanks,

So would you go for a Pace if poss?

From looking at the Pace and Amstrad they look the same! Is it just the internal components which differ?

Yes and I think the viewing card slot is on the oposite side too.

I have my sky+ connected to my panels vga socket as this gives the best picture IMO, you will need a RGB to VGA convertor for this though + associated leads (costs around £150-£200 depending on how much you spend on the leads).

If you want a cheaper option then buy a good quality scart lead and use the RGB scart connection.
