Tv link controlling Sky+

Hi

I am just upgrading to Sky+ and at present I use a TV link to control my present Sky on another TV. Will the TV eye work with Sky+ to control ALL the features ie Record, pause etc etc ( obviously if I buy an additional Sky+ remote)or will it just change the channel.
I have had 2 different replys from Sky themselves---one saleman said yes it will control everything the other said No it wouldn't--so who is right?

Thanks in advance

Rosie

Yes, you will have no problem. If you have been able to control your original sky box before then the sky+ box along with all it's features will be able to be controlled via tv link from another room.

Hi,

Yes it will work fine, and will give you all the same functions, just buy another sky+ remote for use in the other room.

When the installer arrives with your new box, ask him to set the TV link up for you. It's not difficult, as long as you've got the original link instructions, but save yourself the hassle and get him to do it.

Be aware that you can't use the old sky remote with sky+ - it won't work at all.

I can't think of anything that won't work. You can change channels, record, replay, access the guide, etc.

You are probably aware of this already, but the picture quality is a lot better using a scart connection than it is using the RF2 coaxial connection. The RF2 connection is also mono only.
Put the sky box next to the TV where you'll be watching it the most.

Sounds like it will work to me but will the old sky remote not work the new sky+ except for the recording facility or would you have to spend another £25 per extra link????

No, the old remote won't work. Sky and Sky+ use a different code set.

Have you thought of using your old sky box for freesat and connecting through your scart socket to other tv?? Only downside is you can only watch freesat on that tv via scart and then sky+ via tv link.

Whats involved in getting Freeesat ? or is it just a question of leaving the old card in the box and watching it?????Will the engineers be installing a new dish or do they use the old original one?Sorry to sound so naive

Sorry to be a pain--just another question for you guys that already have Sky+ with TV link--Can someone in one room watch a previously recorded programme at the same time that in the other room they are watching live TV?

I've only ever had sky+, but my parents upgraded from standard sky. The installer fitted a new dish.
They recently cancelled sky+, and now use their old sky box and card for Freesat. They didn't have to do anything, just plug the old box back in, with the old card.
I suppose you could ask the engineer to leave the old dish and cables in place, and fit your new sky+ in a different room.

No. Sky+ can only show one thing at a time, as it only has one decoder. All the outputs will show the same programme.
