Sky+
Ok so it may sound a little strange but I aint really a telly addict...more into film.
We have had Sky+ for about 6 weeks (Mrs is the TV fan) and tonight I picked the remote (I think the first time I have ever used it) up to watch something I knew Mrs had recorded. So all I want is to play back somethig I know is on the box how difficult can that be...
No Play button.....No menu item for 'stuff recorded' .... I had to get the instruction book out....Then the thing wanted a PIN number! Now have regard to the fact that there are no children in the house and we never (and I mean never) buy these pay per view things (appaling value for money, just buy the DVD & then sell on dooh....) So why on earth would I need or want a PIN??? Result - give up switch DVD player on
Frankly this is pants...absolutly useless...theres no way I am wading my way through an instruction book for a Sky box. If Microsoft can make software that I can use right out the box with no reference to the instruction book then Sky had better do better next time. Its a good job Mrs is the TV technician if it was down to me the box would go back.
Sorry rant over...

I think you can undo the Pin thing. I guess this is the default in case there are young 'uns around. The pin in case you don't know is the last 4 digits on the sky card in your "slot".
I think if you press "services" on your handset - you will come to a system set up screen - I think the pin thing is on there.

What are you on about, Sky+ is the easiest product to use, both to record and playback
I notice from your sig. you've got a fair bit of kit, are you telling me that you've never looked at any of the instruction manuals to find out how to set them up and use them. So what's the big deal about using the Sky+ manual if you don't knwo how it works.
I agree the PIN thing that they've introduced in their latest software release is pants. Basically anything recorded after 9pm requires your PIN for playback and there doesn't seem anyway you can disable this.

I must agree that Sky+ is the easiest box around to record and watch stuff, I don't see how anyone can find it difficult to use

The PIN thing keeps popping up.
If you try to watch a recorded film, with a time related certification (ie: 9.00pm) any time before 9.00pm on another occasion, the system will request a PIN.
Sky are considering (as I understand) a disabling feature. But todate we are stuck with it, kids or no kids!

well, i guess the pin would be annoying if you dont know the pin...
but just having to press 4 more buttons quickly before watching something is not exactly the end of the world is it?
then again i like typing so mebbe im biased on this

you can set your own pin....for those that find sky operation a tad too sophisticated could reset theirs to something like 0000 or 1111 but make sure to write it down....just incase you forget it
