Can you split sky cable???

Morning all need a little help please..i have sky+ box with the two satellite cables that go in to the back of the box..i purchased a new plasma tv last week Panasonic TX-P50G10 which has Freesat built in.
Is there any way of splitting one of the Sky input's to run into the back of the tv for a Freesat signal. Or have a got to run its own cable from the lnb??..Many thanks in advance Headbangerz.

You'll need a new cable run from the LNB to feed to TV. Each feed needs it's own cable (hence the two into your Sky+ box - one for each tuner), and unlike RF aerial signals, you can't just split off from a single cable

You can temporarily get the new TV going though, by using one of the two from the Sky receiver and giving up the "record one channel while viewing another" facility.

If you ask him nicely he probably will, for a small fee.

He he thought so logical will give it a try...one more thing would i be with in my rights to ask for new cable and Lnb maybe dish seeing that i have paid for the standard installation at a cost of £30.00...i've had the same dish and white double shotgun cable for about 7 years ever since i had Sky+ installed.

OK!
The guy took down my old dish and replaced it and the cabling without being asked.

To be honest, if he is worth his salt, he'll assess your current cabling and decide from there. I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and assume you have 2 single CT100's running from your dish, which is generally better than having a single stretch of CT63, depending on the length of the cable run.

And as Logiciel has intimated, "he" may well replace one of your cables for a cup of tea / coffe and a sticky bun (or the modern day equivalent to enable him to make his own choice of refreshment)

Of course... if "he" finds that there is some form of damage to one of the existing cables that is going to prevent you being able to use all functions of the HD box (dual record, etc)... that is causing an issue to the signal, then a new cable would HAVE to be run.

I've had to replace cable with daft things like cable clips being too tight... cuts in cables... compressed cable due to accidental knocking against... the list goes on...

Enjoy your HD when it lands, it truly is superb!! (don't forget to tune ITV HD to get all the HD channels available )

Kool will have to get a supply of sticky buns and biscuits then...
Yes i do have the double shotgun cable in white..so we will see what he replaces and hopefully get him to run a single cable for the Freesat too..looking forward to getting my new box and experiencing the HD revolution. Thanks for all the replies..Headbangerz..
